Sizzling dresses, black-tie extravaganza and riveting conversations – this was Haba Gala 2017.
EBS Student Council organised yet another glamourous gala evening where we found out the most outstanding Ebsters who received Haba statuettes. The event took place on Friday, April 21 at Raddisson Blu Sky Hotel. It was a perfect occasion to make new connections and ressurrect the old. The event brought together many active and brilliant EBS students, alumni and employees, from both Tallinn and Helsinki, and the additional international group.
The evening began with charming smiles where guests were welcomed with prosecco and the air was filled with sounds by a melodically glamourous jazz band. After the eventful reconnections and greetings, the lovely hosts Liisa Maide and Wille Mansén directed the guests to their tables because the powerful surprise performance by EBS chamber choir was starting. After the energetic mini-concert, the introduction of the categories and nominees started.
The first Haba statuette of the evening went to the Helper of the year Karmen Aasanurm, because the redheads are never left unattended in EBS! The title of Fairy of the year was handed to Niina Troškina, whose smile never leaves her face while making the EBS house in impeccable order. A real Colleague of the year can be described as creative, hard-working and with a charm that follows her everywhere – Anni Metstak.
After the first statuettes accompanied with a loud applause were given out, it was time to enjoy the plentiful dinner made by the chefs of Radisson. The active student DJ Mari-Anna Miller helped to keep up the mood with chill vibes.
EBS has an honor to have a student community with such a rich variety of cultures, therefore it was time to announce the outstanding Erasmus of the year, who has stood out with her activities in EBS. Yes, that is Valentine Auquebon. The Foreign lecturer of the year was easily handed to Aavo Reinfeldt, someone, whose charisma leaves no one cold! Partner of the year is a special prize that was given to Volkswagen Financial Services for an excellent partnership with EBS.
There was no way that a proper game of Jeopardy! was missing from the buzzing evening, the game’s focus was on EBS’ history and important details.
EBS family is full of ardent people who give their best daily to make the school life better, therefore the Lifetime Achievement award was given to Aet Toots for her notably excellent work.
Genius of the year was given to Renate Jõul, a dedicated young lady who serves as an example for all students. Support of the year is someone, who is motivatingand always extends a friendly hand in need – Jaan Rand. At EBS Alar Kein is someone who can easily make microeconomics understandable for everyone, this is a perfect description for Mentor of the year.
Before announcing the last category it was time to hand out awards for the best 5 Instagram posts. Maria Paalma won the first prize with the coolest polaroid and was awarded by Photopoint with Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 polaroid camera to make even cooler photos.
As the beautiful jazz music was playing, the cake was cut open and guests got to enjoy it with prosecco or coffee. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, eyes that sparkled and cameras flashing next to the photo wall.
After a small break it was time to announce Activist of the year. Activist of the year is a girl whose spirit is full of activity and dedication, who only by her presence lights up the room – Liisa Maide. The Golden Alumni title was handed to someone who always sees the bigger picture and uses her creative mind fully – Kristi Liiva. Ebster of the year is Kaarel Kotkas, a guy who has created new standards in safety and made financial services more available.
Golden Haba Gala 2017 was full of glamour, good relations and splendid mood. But the event would not have been such a success without our excellent sponsors whose contribution was remarkable.
